"Begin with a quote" - they say...
They say a lot of things. So, I have begun... This is the start of my Blog. I dislike the word 'Blog' for some reason, but until I find a more apt expression, it'll do. I think the most important thing about doing this is to get me back into the habit of writing on a regular basis. For many years I have carried around a series of little black books, not all at once, of course, but individually, into which I write, draw, plan and speculate about everything that's going on, so to speak. I suppose I ought to simply look upon this as an extension of such...more in keeping with the Age, as it were. I have found that periodically scanning through those little books can be quite beneficial to my current thought processes. There's very little in the way of categorization in those books, they are all the same size and colour, and more often than not it's just a case of capturing whatever fleeting piece of inspiration on the first available space I come to. There is a sort of fundamental order to them, but it takes some finding. To be honest I prefer them like that...they work for me in the same way as my studio...what may appear at first as a chaotic cacophony of crap enveloping a disheveled young (ish) man is actually laced with the intricate miasma of great beauty, or so he likes to believe. That's most probably the wrong word, but it seemed to fit... One notable plus to writing on a computer, rather than in a paper book, is that that my spelling ability will appear to be much better...so long as I choose the correct spell-checker...I've noticed the red line under 'colour'...there is a 'u' in that word. Not to worry, though...communication is far more important than being exactly correct...
Right then, I've written my first paragraph. I quite enjoyed doing it. Now what? Press 'publish' I guess. I seem to remember another thing They said about starting to write, which is simply to just go for it until you get up a rhythm and then delete the first few paragraphs... I won't do that just yet, but I will press 'publish' and go make a cup of tea...I may write more later...
